Young Fine Gael Launches National Survey Empowering Young Women to Shape Women’s Healthcare

The initiative, titled Our Say on Women’s Healthcare, aims to build a comprehensive, evidence‑based submission to policymakers and highlights the urgent need for improved services across key areas including menstrual health, mental health, neurodiversity, maternal care, screening, and support for survivors of abuse.

Speaking at the launch, Bebhinn Lombard, Munster Regional Organiser & Director of Women’s Engagement said:

“Young women see the gaps in women’s healthcare every day – in school, in college, in workplaces, and in their own families. This survey aims to gather direct insights into these experiences and transform them into actionable policy proposals. Women deserve a healthcare system that listens, responds, and delivers.”

The survey invites responses from both YFG members and the general public. It covers ten core themes identified by young people, including endometriosis and menstrual health, chronic conditions, body image and eating disorders, neurodiverse conditions, and barriers to screening.

Jamie Malone, President of YFG said:

“For too long, women’s health has been under‑researched, under‑funded, and under‑prioritised. We are ready to change that. This project is about amplifying real stories and ensuring that the next generation’s voice is central to shaping Ireland’s healthcare future.”

The findings of the survey will inform a detailed policy paper to be published later this year, alongside recommendations for government, healthcare providers, and education partners.

YFG is encouraging anyone with experience of these issues to complete our survey.
