Young Fine Gael is this weekend hosting the largest gathering of Europe’s centre-right in Ireland in over a decade when delegates from 31 countries will come to Dublin for a two-day conference.
The conference, coming two months before Ireland takes over the rotating Presidency of the European Council, will be centred around the theme of boosting European economic growth.
The Youth of the European People’s Party (YEPP) conference is the largest EPP activity in Ireland since the EPP Congress in Dublin in 2014.
Over 80 delegates will hear from prominent speakers from Fine Gael and Irish business. Tánaiste Simon Harris will give a keynote address to the attendees, who will also hear from Minister Helen McEntee, Mairead McGuinness, Leo Varadkar, and Minister Neale Richmond, amongst others.
The delegates from EPP member parties across Europe will debate resolutions, discuss policy, listen to the Irish perspective on Europe’s political direction, share their own perspective, and network.
Conference Organiser and YEPP Deputy Secretary General Eoin Scarlett said:
“The European People’s Party is the largest and most powerful political bloc in Europe. Fine Gael’s place at the heart of the EPP is crucial to giving Ireland influence and say in Europe.
“I’m absolutely thrilled that we are bringing the EPP back to Ireland at a pivotal time right before we take over the presidency of the European Council.
YEPP President Sophia Kircher MEP said:
“I’m so happy that YEPP is here in the beautiful city of Dublin.
“Ireland is a beacon of economic growth in Europe and that is why our theme for these two days focuses on how we boost the European economy so that we deliver a good quality of life for all our citizens.”
YFG President Jamie Malone said:
“This conference is a fantastic opportunity for us to exchange ideas – Ireland learning from Europe, and Europe learning from Ireland.
YFG and Fine Gael are deeply proud to be founding members of both YEPP and the EPP, and it is an honour to host these idealistic, young delegates from across Europe.”
Over the two days, delegates will visit Leinster House, Dublin City Hall, and several other prominent Dublin landmarks.
Founded in 1997, YEPP is Europe’s largest youth political organisation. It is made up of 59 political parties from 39 countries, including many parties from countries in the extended European neighbourhood.
