May 6th is the last day to register to vote and have your say on electing your local Councillors and European Representatives.

May 23rd is polling day for the 2014 Local and European Elections. This day only comes about once every five years; you can play your part in ensuring the best and brightest in your local area are elected to ensure youth and community issues are made a priority. Increasingly many decisions that affect Ireland are made in agreement with member states at a European level. Therefore it is crucial that Ireland has dedicated public servants representing us with the experience, judgment and determination to ensure decisions are made in Ireland's best interests.

To vote, your name must be entered in the Register of Electors, which is compiled by your local authority.

You must be at least 18 years of age on the day the Register comes into force to vote in an election.

You are not automatically registered at 18 and must complete a form.

To check if you are registered to vote, go to Check the Register.
