Live Register Figures Show Govt. Failure

The latest release of numbers on the live register is yet a clear demonstration of the failure of the current government to tackle unemployment and fix our economy for the people of Ireland.

Instead of proper management of a successful economy that was creating jobs which they received in 1997 Fianna Fail have implementedpolicies that has resulted in a shocking 452,500 people staring unemployment in the face with an entire generation considering emigration. Yet we are repeatedly told that the though decisions have been taken and we have turned the corner. The reality though is that we have turned the corner so many times were going around in circles.

SUPPORT THE RIGHT FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO DISPLAY CHRISTIAN SYMBOLS.

Young Fine Gael’s International Committee has issued a strong response to the recent ruling by the European Court of Human right stating that crucifixes should not be displayed in Italian schools.

In the recent case Lautsi V Italy (no 30814/06), the court ruled that the display of crucifixes in Italian schools ‘violated the principle of secular education and might be intimidating for children of other faiths.’

YFG propose introduction of voucher scheme for child benefit

New system would ensure that Child Benefit is used in the best interests of the child

Among many social welfare proposals being discussed at the Young Fine Gael (YFG) Summer School in Bundoran this weekend (July 24th -26th) is a proposal that Child Benefit should be distributed in the form of vouchers to ensure that it is used directly for the benefit of the child.

These vouchers would be redeemable in the Republic of Ireland for groceries, children's clothes, educational materials and junior sports equipment and could not be used for the purchase of alcohol or for use in any leisure activities.

With the Council of State meeting tonight to discuss the Criminal Justice (Amendment) Bill 2009, Young Fine Gael (YFG) have announced that they will discuss proposals at their Summer School in Bundoran, Co. Donegal this weekend (July 24th-26th) which would disqualify convicted gang members and their immediate families from receiving social welfare payments.
