Young Fine Gael (YFG) yesterday (Tuesday) made its submission to the Constitutional Convention in support of the introduction of Same-Sex Marriage into our Constitution.
"This submission reflects the consensus amongst the YFG membership that homosexual couples seeking to marry should be afforded the same protections and supports as their heterosexual counterparts", said Patrick Molloy, YFG President."The introduction of Civil Partnership Bill in 2011 was an important step in the right direction and we hope that the determinations of the Constitutional Convention will be a further step forward in respect of marriage equality.""We believe that this move is broadly supported throughout the country and that the Irish people's belief in fairness and respect will lead them to vote in favour of this amendment in a referendum, should the convention approve it." "YFG has campaigned for marriage equality and has asked the convention to allow the people of Ireland show their support for it," concluded Patrick Molloy.
