YFG Welcomes new Minister for Justice & Equality

Young Fine Gael today (Thursday) welcomed the appointment of Frances Fitzgerald, T.D. as the new Minister for Justice and Equality. Young Fine Gael calls on Frances Fitzgerald to continue the reforms undertaken by the former Minister for Justice, Alan Shatter TD.

Speaking today, YFG President, Dale McDermott commented 'Young Fine Gael wishes to commend Alan Shatter, T.D., on the reforms he has undertaken and his determination to champion the rights for all in our society. Young Fine Gael urges our new Minister for Justice and Equality Frances Fitzgerald to continue the excellent work already undertaken by Alan Shatter and to steer the Children & Family Relationship Bill through the Oireachtas. We also want to see the Marriage Equality referendum to take place as soon as possible once the bill is passed.'

Mr McDermott further added 'We would like to congratulate Charlie Flanagan, T.D. on his new appointment as Minister for Children and Youth Affairs. We look forward to working with him in his new role and wish him the very best in continuing the great work of Frances Fitzgerald'.
