Members of Young Fine Gael (YFG) will be joined by Deputy Mary Mitchell O'Connor to debate motions on political reform in the Mansion House in Dublin City on (Monday) April 8th, 2013 at 7.45 p.m.
The YFG Dublin Regional Council (DRC) have organised the event to spark debate about a number of issues all relating to political reform, as submitted by YFG members. The motions passed on the night will be submitted to the National Executive of YFG and to YFG's Summer School and National Conference for discussion and adoption by the membership in general. These motions may also be proposed for the National Conference or Ard Fheis of Fine Gael.
- Abolishing Seanad Eireann
- Reforming the budgetary process in Dáil Eireann
- Strengthening Dáil Eireann
- Legislating for the right to die
- Electing the Ceann Comhairle by secret ballot
- Banning TDs expenses for part political purposes
- Reforming the upcoming European Parliament election to a single constituency with a list system
- Introducing voluntary prison employment programmes
- Legislating to ensure a referendum must be passed to allow any future bail-out of a private institution
