Rail Link becomes reality- Clare YFG

After a gap of over 30 years, rail services between Limerick and Galway will recommence next month. Ennis and Limerick are once again connected with the west making it easier to travel to Galway. The new route which is Phase 1 of the Western Rail Corridor will be officially launched on 29th March 2010 and full schedules will operate from 30th March.

Speaking before the launch of the new service Chairman of Clare Young Fine Gael, Cillian Griffey said..

"I am delighted that Iarnród Éireann have at long last decided to re-connect Clare and Galway by rail again. It will bring a great boost to Clare and to Shannon Airport. Services on the Ennis to Limerick commuter line have proved a major success and the opening up of services to Athenry will now mean that passengers will be able to travel from Limerick to Galway bridging a 30 year gap in services on this line"

Celebrations for the opening of the NEW Limerick-Galway Train Service begin in Limerick train station at 10am and Ennis at 11.15am. All welcome!!
