Nominations to YFG National Executive 2015

After the close of nominations at 12noon today, the following YFG members have been successfully nominated to contest the 2015 elections to the YFG National Executive. Voting will take place on Saturday March 7th from 12 noon - 3pm in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ennis Road, Limerick. Full conference details will be available at www.yfg.ie/yfg15 

 

 

 

President 

- Ciara McMahon 

Ciara is 24 years old and from Meath. She studied Politics and History in Maynooth followed by a Masters in Political Communication and Public Affairs in DIT. She have been a member of YFG since 2009 when joined in 1st year in Maynooth. Ciara currently work in Minister Frances Fitzgerald's constituency office.

- Padraig O'Sullivan

Padraig is a 22 year old student from Tipperary, currently doing a Masters in Economic Analysis in UL. He is the outgoing YFG National Secretary and is a representative of YFG on the Executive Council of Fine Gael. He is also involved in Macra na Feirme, and has a keen interest in Economic and European affairs.

- Stephen Spillane

I'm 29 and a work for Boots. I have been a member of YFG for 10 years. I joined YFG while in UCC and never left. I am active activist and campaigner with a number of voluntary organisations including JCI and the Christian Aid.

Vice-President 

- David McManus 

David joined Young Fine Gael in UCD where he completed a degree in Economics and Politics. In that time he has been active at a branch level, chaired a regional council and campaigned in GE 2011,Stability Treaty and numerous by election campaigns.

- Colm Taylor

Yes I am the real Colm Taylor! Previously in YFG I was a member of the national executive during the historic 2011 GE. I am a former chair of UL and of South Tipperary YFG. Last May I contested the local elections for FG and was unfortunate not to get elected. Currently I'm VC of Tipperary FG and county chair of Macra.

- Cathal Bryne

Cathal Byrne (23) is a Trinity College Dublin law graduate. Since 2011, he has served at branch and regional level as branch secretary and DRC chair. In 2012, he worked in Boston for now Congressman Joe Kennedy's election campaign. A Wexford native, he is involved with Macra and Ballyhogue GAA.

- Dan McInerney

I'm Dan McInerney, a 22 year old Clare man studying Economics and competing an internship in Citibank, Dublin. I'm a member of this fine organisation since 2011, since then I've been treasurer and Chairperson of UL YFG and Chairperson of Clare YFG. I enjoy the occasional pint and playing the Guitar. 

- Conor Murphy

I am Conor Murphy, 21, from Cork and have been a member of CNC and UCC YFG since joining college. I have played an active part in YFG both locally and nationally. I recently contested the local elections last May, and will be doing a master in government.

- Kevin Smyth

I've been a member of YFG for the last three years. I joined the Maynooth Branch and have worked with the Committee to make the branch the strongest on campus. I'm passionate about what YFG can achieve. I want to see better branches and more confident members that want to be part of the best policies and campaigns.

Regional Organiser (Ireland South including Clare)

- Declan Burgess

Hi, my name is Declan Burgess. I am from Cashel, Co. Tipperary. I am 19 years old. My main interests are history, geography, politics (obviously), GAA, socialising and travelling. I believe YFG is the strongest vehicle for young people to make change and contribute to politics in our country.

- Gerard O'Mahony

I'm 22 years old and from Knocknagree, Co. Cork. I studied French and Economics during my undergraduate and I'm presently undertaking a Masters in Government. Ultimately I'd like to become a secondary teacher. I joined YFG in first year of college and it's been a big hobby of mine since then.

- Wayne O'Sullivan

I am a devoted member of YFG and am strive to drive the party forward in a progressive way. I have set up branches in GMIT and in the Beara Peninsula. My commitment to you is that I will work tirelessly as MRO for the betterment of our party.

Regional Organiser ( Ireland East)

- Ciaran Allen

Ciarán Allen is 24 years old and from Wexford. He graduated from UL with a degree in Politics & Public Administration. Ciarán re-launched the Wexford County YFG Branch in 2010 and was elected as Chairperson for two years. He currently serves on the outgoing YFG National Executive and is the incumbent.

- Killian Foley-Walsh

I'm a 3rd-year law student in Maynooth, and joined YFG in Kilkenny in 2010. Since then, I've been Chair of Kilkenny, Secretary and PRO of Maynooth, and Chair of the Leinster Regional Council. ND, NS, with VGSOH, interested in currentaffairs,travel, and chess, WLTM YFG electorate in Leinster area.

Regional Organiser (North West)

- Keelan Moran

Keelan is a 19 year old 2nd Year student of Biomedical Science at NUI Galway. After taking on the role of 1st Year representative of the NUIG branch in September 2013, he was elected chair of the branch in April 2014. During this time, he has spoken at events surrounding marriage equality and mental health, among others.

- Aaron Sweeney

From Cranford, Co. Donegal, 18 and currently a leaving cert student in Mulroy College. Hopes to attend NUI Galway to study History, English and Politics after the Leaving. A member for 4 years and also the current Chairperson of YFG Donegal North-East and the YFG Policy Committee secretary.

Regional Organiser (Dublin) *

- Patrick Martin

Having graduated with an Accounting & Finance degree from Dublin Business School, I'm now studying for my AITI tax qualification, while also being employed in the Pharmaceutical industry. I joined Young Fine Gael in 2012 and last year, following my local election campaign, I helped re-establish the Dublin Central branch.
