New YFG Dublin South East Commitee has been announced

The Annual General Meeting of the Dublin South East YFG took place on Tuesday 21st April 2009, in the O Briens Pub, Lesson street.

The new committee elected in Dublin South East for 2009-10 were:

YFG Dublin South East Branch News:

The YFG Dublin South East Officers Board has launched its own official Constituency Bebo Page and Dublin South East YFG Facebook during the past year. Over the number of years, committees have tried to keep in touch with their branch members by email and letters regarding upcoming events within the constituency. It is hoped that with the introduction of our own Bebo webpage and facebook group, members will be able to easily access details regarding meetings, events and statements from our TD and Councillors within the Constituency This site will be linked into the college and non-college branches Bebo websites, so our main Bebo webpage will also be regularly updated with their contributions. This will be the first step towards taking the Branch forward as it tries to reform its structures whilst preparing for the forthcoming Local and Euro elections in 2009. We are hoping to elect three or four councillors in this constituency and therefore increase our representation on Dublin City Council by this June.

Anyone who wishes to join YFG Dublin South East can do so by getting involved by campaigning locally and by generally getting involved with YFG through the Bebo website at and as well our Constituency Facebook We can be also able to contact to email as well dseyfg@gmail.comAs a result of this innovation; we look forward to improved and more efficient communication between our various branches. As a results of launching them I am delighted to said to this Annual General Meeting that our Bebo Constituency Webpage has grow to 114 members and our facebook has grow to 23 members to date.

Young Fine Gael Lisbon National Campaign:

Young Fine Gael launches the biggest campaign ever for the Lisbon Treaty early in summer last year. A number of major events and series of public meetings took place around Ireland. Our own Lucinda Creighton TD Spokesperson on European Affairs attending these events to ensure the public support the treaty. The Party led a rally in Dublin City Centre with live music and speeches from the Leader of Fine Gael and Lucinda Creighton as well. I would like to thank Barry, Susie and Lucinda for all their hard work that they have put into the Campaign on behalf of Dublin South East. We in Young Fine Gael Dublin South East will continue to promote the Lisbon Treaty and make sure that it is ratified this year.

Locals and European Conventions2009:

A number of series of Fine Gael Conventions took place early last year. Young Fine Gael has a number of new candidates to run for the upcoming local's elections for the first time ever. Some of them are to name few: Simon Harris, Ray Macadam, Noel Rock Neale Richmond, and William Lavelle from Dublin. Dublin South East has their Convention in October in Alexander Hotel for Rathmines-Pembroke,

The current sitting cllrs Edie and Paddy was selected on the night, later Eoghan Murphy was become Area Rep and later he was adding on the ticket as well. In the Inner City Ward, the Party chooses Georgina and Catherine as Area Representatives during the year. Later Catherine was select on the ticket to run the Inner City Ward. May I wish our Candidates the very best of luck and I can ensure them that Young Fine Gael will support our Candidates by helping them after tonights meeting. Gay Mitchell MEP was chosen by the Dublin members in January this year.

Young Fine Gael National Conference:

Young Fine Gael Party holds their Annual National Conference in Athlone this year, there was a great turnout nationwide by members. Young Fine Gael Dublin South East holds a special meeting of the branch early January this year to nominate the candidates for the National Executive this year. We got nominations for National Executive Election from:Alan Gallagher Dublin South Barry Walsh Cork East for President, Stephen Behan Kerry North Karen Doyle UCD for Vice President James O'Sullivan UCD Don Roche Dublin North Central, Michelle Perry Silgo, Sarah Moore from Wexford for National Panel: Alison Meagher Trinity College & Conor Rock Dublin South West Dublin as Dublin Regional Organiser.

Appointment News:

I am delighted to announced to this Annual General Meeting that I have be appointed to the Board of Enable Ireland as the newly elected Director of Youth of the Dublin Region on the 5th January 2009 at the Organization at the AGM. Further to this I was also been appointed as Chief Executive of PIA (People in Action) a Representative Group as part of Enable Ireland to represent the voice of the Services Users within the Organization. Rathmines Youth Area Committee which I am a member has appointed me chairperson for the coming year. I am delighted to serve on these new bodies for the coming year to represent youth issues. James O'Sullivan, YFG Director of Communications and DRC Vice-Chairperson was selected recently as a FG candidate for the Greystones Town Council for the Party for upcoming local elections. YFG Dublin South East wish send our best to James for the upcoming Local Elections.

Fine Gael News By-Elections News:

Sen. Paschal Donohoe has been selected as the Fine Gael candidate for the upcoming Dublin Central Bye-Election. Paschal is married with two young children and lives in Shandon Park, Phibsborough. He was elected to Seanad Eireann in 2007 and is the Fine Gael Seanad Spokesperson on Transport. He is a member of the Transport and European Affairs Oireachtas Committees. Paschal was also Chair of the Oireachtas Sub Committee on Ireland's Future in Europe, which published it's final report in November 2008. Paschal was a member of Dublin City Council from 2004 to 2007. During this time he served as Chair of the Environmental Policy Strategic Policy Committee, as a member of the Corporate Policy Group and also served as Chairman of the Central Area Committee. Paschal contested the General Election in 2007 for Dublin Central where he polled the 4th highest number of first preferences. He was educated at St Declan's CBS, Cabra and Trinity College, Dublin. Paschal has a 1st class degree in Politics and Economics. After graduation he worked in the UK and Ireland and became the Sales & Marketing Director for a multinational company. He resigned from this role in 2006 to contest the General Election.

Young Fine Gael Dublin South East was very honour to have him at the Senior Constituency AGM most recently where he was the guest speaker on the night. The next incoming YFG Officers Board must support him as our candidate for the Constituency of Dublin Central by helping him as much as we can to ensure that he got the seat for the party.

Dublin Regional Council AGM and News:

The Annual General Meeting of the Young Fine Gael Dublin Regional Council took place on 14th November 2008 last in Trinity College. Former Chair Karen Doyle gave warm thanks to her outgoing Committee for their hard work during the past year. The turnout was very good with a number of candidates were present at the meeting. Lucinda Creighton TD chaired the meeting on the night. The membership elected the incoming Committee for the coming year.

The DRC Annual Christmas Party took place in TJ Smith Pub on the 4th December once again it was a good turnout for the Committee. Earlier in the year Michael step down as Regional Secretary and he was replace by Joe Delaney at our last DRC Committee Meeting.

Main Focus for the forthcoming year for YFG Dublin South East:

The new Officers Board of Dublin South East YFG that will be elected tonight must focus on the Local and European Elections, to ensure that our candidates get elected to Dublin City Council on 5th June next and secondly, we will continue to promote the Lisbon Treaty and make sure that it is ratified this year.

Young Fine Gael Dublin South East is alive and kicking and always give our members a strong voice within this Constituency and be a leading role model for our future membership of YFG Dublin South East.
