Message for YFG Members from Helen McEntee

Dear YFG Member,

On March 27th, Meath East voters will have the opportunity to choose who they want to represent their constituency in Dáil Éireann. I'm Helen McEntee, Shane and Kathleen McEntee's daughter. I'm 26 and I live in Castletown. I'm running as Fine Gael's candidate in the bye-election and I want to be the person the Meath East voters pick for that role. As a YFG member, I will need your help on the ground and online over the next few weeks.

From a young age, I had a strong interest in politics. I completed a BA in Economics, Politics and Law in DCU and then went on to complete a Masters in Media and Communication.

Public service has run in the McEntee family for generations, through involvement in the GAA, the IFA, local community groups and politics. I am young, energetic and committed. I am ready to be a TD for my local area so, like my Dad, I can work hard on the issues the people of Meath East care about most.

I worked with my Dad in Meath East and in the Department of Agriculture, where he became Minister of State. Watching him in action, I learned that politics should be about fighting for your constituents and changing what's wrong. My father worked tirelessly on every issue, whether it was pyrite, pylons, roads or job creation. Thanks to working with him, I have a deep understanding of what matters to the people of Meath East, and I will fight on their behalf if I am elected as their TD.

I am devastated by my father's loss, but I need your help as YFG members to continue his good work. As a 26 year-old Irish woman living in Meath East, I can be a strong voice in the Dáil for those facing emigration and for young people in this country. I will speak out for the families, small businesses and young people across Meath East.

Firstly, if you are a YFG member in Meath East, I respectfully ask for your No.1 vote on March 27th. Secondly, as a member of YFG from Meath East or elsewhere, I would appreciate any help you can give over the next 15 days of the campaign. Your assistance on the ground in Meath East and online would make a huge difference to the campaign and I hope to see a lot of you in coming weeks.

Yours sincerely,
