Frank Mulqueen - News - Young Fine Gael

Frank Mulqueen

Name: Frank Mulqueen

Age: 25

Candidate in: Limerick City West

YFG/FG branches: Limerick Young Fine Gael, Former National Executive member.

Why did you decide to run in the locals?

Tough on Crime – Support for council funded CCTV to aid our Gardai to do their jobs

Local places for local children – Every child should have the right to be educated locally instead of this busing system that is unfair on families hard pressed for time

Keep your taxes low and local – There must be a return for the hard pressed tax payer on any property tax paid and it us up to us to be the watchdog on wasteful council spending

Why did you join YFG/FG: I was 15 while in School. Deputy Dan Neville spoke at my school of the influence on him by Young Fine Gael on the issue of suicide. Dan has since gone on to lead the fight against this epidemic ravaging our communities at all levels. Dan is one of the few TD's who has the ability to be able to go into a room full of school children and spread the empathy he feels throughout the room.

Your greatest achievement: I was the author of a resolution passed by Youth of the European Party calling for establishment of pan-European Child vetting agency. This will stop sexual predators leaving their crimes against children at a countries border and protect our children.

Favourite quote: "Our answer is the world's hope; it is to rely on youth. The cruelties and obstacles of this swiftly changing planet will not yield to obsolete dogmas and outworn slogans. It cannot be moved by those who cling to a present which is already dying, who prefer the illusion of security to the excitement and danger which comes with even the most peaceful progress."

Robert F Kennedy - Day of Affirmation speech - Delivered to National Union of South African Students at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, June 6th, 1966
